Her work is held in a number of private collections and public collections including Soho House.

Rosalind Davis’ Style and Approach

Rosalind Davis is an artist whose central concern is the transformation and reconfiguration of space through her paintings and wider multi-disciplinary work which includes installation, sculpture, photography and drawing. Beginning with the highly rational language of architecture as her primary source, Davis reassembles its geometries to create new, multifaceted spaces.

With a number of paintings in the series ‘This Unfolds’ (2014-20) on Rise Art, Davis started with photographs of the undersides of two buildings, both of cultural significance; Caixa Foundation designed by Herzog de Meuron in Madrid and Quai Branly in Paris as well as using secondary architectural resources as a starting point to interpret, intervene in and transpose. Davis merges these different spaces and forms; re-visualizing, re-constructing and reconfiguring architectural elements to create a third space of multi-dimensional environments. Various portal like openings allude to the boundaries between physical and psychological boundaries; connecting and disconnecting boundaries and pathway intimating a more personalised space and environment of one’s own creation.

Exhibitions & Curatorial Projects

Since 2018 Davis has alongside her own practice has been working on collaborations with artist Justin Hibbs making site specific works for no format gallery, Seven Oaks Kaleidoscope Gallery, (London and Sevenoaks, 2018) Arthouse1 and My Cup of Coffee is your Cup of Tea and the Foundry Gallery (London, 2019). In 2020 they had works in ‘The Collectors Room’ at JGM Gallery curated by Karen David and ‘Substance Bundle’ at Koppel Projects curated by Alexander Stavrou.

Davis has been the Curator at Collyer Bristow Gallery since 2016 and lectures expansively at universities, galleries and arts organisations across the country including the Royal College of Art, ICA, Camden Arts Centre, UAL and many more, and has been a mentor for over ten years working for a-n, Artquest, Shape Arts, Plop, UKYA and independently. Davis has also led art tours for the ICA (London and Boston), South London Art Map and the Whitechapel Gallery and contributed to BBC4’s Film ‘Tales of Winter. The Art of Snow and Ice.’ As a Consultant Davis has worked for arts organisations, charities and independants as well as corporations such as BBC4 and E4.

Davis is co-author of ‘What they didn’t teach you at art school’ commissioned by Octopus Books which is internationally available. Davis has also been an Ambassador and curatorial mentor for UK Young Artists and sat on many judging panels to select works for exhibitions and prizes including the Robert Walters / UKYA exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery.
