Olga Mun

Olga Mun is an Award-winning artist known for her thought-provoking artistic endeavours that delve into the intricacies of the human experience. Through the repurposing and reconstruction of various images taken from photos, Mun skillfully creates multi-layered compositions that shed light on the dark parables of historical events and the lived history of individuals. Not constrained by a singular style, her loose and expressive painting technique effortlessly transitions between figuration and abstraction, offering a captivating exploration of the conflicted spaces we currently inhabit.

Residing in Salford, Mun completed her BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the University of Salford, Manchester in 2022 and is currently pursuing an MA in Contemporary Fine Art at the same institution. Recognized for her talent and artistic contributions, Mun was awarded The Haworth Charitable Trust Undergraduate Scholarship in 2021 and shortlisted for the Open Call for Rural Arts' "Fresh Exhibition" in Thirsk in 2022.

In a notable achievement, Mun was honored with the prestigious AXA Art Prize UK 2023, which recognizes outstanding works of figurative art by students. This £10,000 prize further acknowledges her artistic prowess and the compelling nature of her work.
Upcoming showcase includes participation in the renowned Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts 2023.
