Baptiste Laurent, born in 1980 in Nantes, France, is a visual artist based in Spain since 2007. He is the founder of Latolier, a shared workshop located in the Usera neighborhood of Madrid. His work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo, the French Institute of Madrid, the Gazzambo Gallery, the Alliance Française, and the National Museum of Anthropology, as well as in independent spaces like Esquina Nua, Galería FL, La Caja, and Espacio Seara.
A versatile artist, Baptiste Laurent primarily works with painting, but also explores sculpture and carries out projects with a strong literary, social, and anthropological component. Among his recent publications are "Conversaciones y Puñetazos", "Mauvaises tournures", "Bajo el mismo mar", and "Exit", where he experiments with collaborations with other visual artists and literary authors.
An anti-academic and eclectic painter, he fits into a syncretism of pictorial styles, oscillating between the narratives of neo-figuration, graphic painting, urban art, and abstraction.
