More Works by Markus Krug
Markus Krug
Markus Krug is a German conceptual installation artist. Born in 1965 in Singen, the artist now lives and works in Munich. For more than 20 years, Markus Krug has been exploring structural concepts in series that build on each other. Assembled with various techniques, Markus' sculptures and installations connect in a conceptual matrix.

Markus Krug's Approach

Markus creates homogeneous, reduced works from diverse materials: paper, cardboard, Styrofoam or polystyrene foam. Due to his manual working method, minimal differences arise. These differences are either emphasized or concealed by applying acrylic paint with a minimalistic colour palette, namely black or white. Markus consistently alternates the viscosity, quantity and handling of the colours depending on the structure in question. The reference to its origin, however, always remains.

Exhibitions and Collections

Markus has exhibited his artwork in several solo exhibitions, including at the Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal, Wiesbaden, Germany (2016), Galerie Haus Nord, Nuremberg, Germany (2019) and Üblacker-Häusl, Munich, Germany (2021). He has showcased his work at numerous group exhibitions in Istanbul, Vienna, Munich, Berlin and Leipzig, Germany. His work is in private collections in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Budapest, Freiburg, Cologne, Munich, New York, Paris, Quévert, Salzburg, Stuttgart, Utrecht, Washington, Wiesbaden and beyond.
