Frank Stella

Born in 1936 in Malden, Massachusetts, USA, Frank Stella established himself in New York. A trailblazer in minimalism, he emerged as a prominent figure in Op Art and the "shaped canvas." After studying art at Phillips Academy in Andover and history at Princeton University, he drew inspiration from abstract expressionism, specifically the works of Pollock and Kline. However, Frank Stella later broke away from the expressive nature of this movement.

Frank Stella's first solo exhibition in 1960 showcased his "Black Paintings," the culmination of his reflections on painting as an object. His works marked a departure from abstract expressionism.

Since the 1980s, Frank Stella turned to sculpture, significantly expanding his artistic scope. His work marked the onset of the minimalist movement, redefining the boundaries of classical geometry and exploring new artistic dimensions.
