Pierre Duba

After graduating from the Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, Pierre Duba devotes himself entirely to his artistic practice. For more than twenty years, he has developed his graphic universe through different mediums. The work of Pierre Duba is notably recognized as one of the most original in contemporary comics. In perpetual quest for experimentation and eager to go always further in the expression of his art, he has produced several short films which echoes his many works. Plastic artist, he creates over time a language that is Clean, making the letter its research object, this practice leads it to create large format “paintings” using the letters of the alphabet for graphic. Today, this "writing" merges or cohabit with these other plastic experiences. & Nbsp; use letters to draw images ... It is said that the child stops drawing when he learns to write. The designer Pierre Duba disregards his line and builds strong, realistic and poetic images from a falsely disorderly syllabary tangle. There are a thousand ways to make a letter: fat or thin, straight or leaning, full or empty, Color or black ... The choice of graphite on immaculate paper has imposed itself as obvious. The shades of gray are endless and allow the artist to modulate his effects. The organic element is at the heart of this work. Thus, letter after letter, Pierre Duba explores a new graphic idiom that speaks life ... Draw writing. & Nbsp; "I draw letters in paper pencil in a disorder for Finding my images. This way of proceeding is not reasonable neither convenient nor easy. The possibilities of words of sentences give me vertigo and clutters me, & nbsp; I claim the loss of meaning, it relieves me. I absorb the Sense of all words to destroy them and erase them to write without words. & nbsp; Writing without words becomes images shaped by thousands of letters drawn & nbsp; precisely and compulsively without chance, progressing in agglomera, covering the paper with a yeast infection typographic. & nbsp; the graphic vocabulary that I use to make these drawings is very simple, these are the 24 letters of the alphabet in capital letter or tiny. It is an established and invariable choice. & nbsp; 'is the layout of these letters in hand drawn by hand and which offers infinity of possibilities at that time. & nbsp; " Pierre Duba
