More Works by Delphine Lebourgeois
Delphine Lebourgeois
Multi-media artist Delphine Lebourgeois works across collage, drawing, print and digital art to produce reflections of the female figure. Delphine reimagines the female nude, combining traditional and modern day influences to give her subjects nuanced and intriguing identities. From the stylistic features of Botticelli paintings, to the quirks of comic book illustrations, Delphine reinvents the role of the female figure in art, injecting sensuality with a sinister edge and fantasy with a dark reality.

Delphine Lebourgeois’ Education and Career

Delphine studied Fine Art in Lyon before moving to London in 2005 to complete a Masters in Illustration from Central Saint Martins. Since graduating, Delphine’s illustrative style has led to a number of editorial illustrations for the likes of The New Yorker, The Guardian, L’Obs and Le Monde. Delphine’s art has also made its way around the world, collected and shown in exhibitions across Europe, the US, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Creative Process

Delphine’s art is a celebration of female individuality and strength. Citing artists such as Marina Abramovic and Sophie Calle as inspiration, Delphine strives to break boundaries with her art. Delphine predominantly uses digital collage to build the ideas and narratives behind each piece. Technology has allowed Delphine to experiment and constantly develop her process, although she still insists on drawing each piece herself. When creating new art, Delphine focuses on questioning and dismantling the traditions of Fine Art and Illustration to present a new type of figurative art.
