Joseph Idowu

BIOGRAPHY Born in the 90s, Joseph Idowu was brought up in FCT Abuja, hails from Ekiti state, Nigeria. Born with the passion for art, He honed his skill at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, where he majored in Painting and graduated as the best graduating student in fine and Applied Arts. He also trained at the universal studios of Art, Lagos, and a resident artist at The Akpojotor Studios Lagos. Recently, He was privileged of participating in one of the biggest Art Fairs; ART CONTACT Istanbul International Contemporary Art Fair, Turkey with Tabularasa Transnational Art. Also participated in the Rele Young Contemporaries Boot Camp (virtual edition) 2020. He works across painting, sculpture and majorly in wood burning and etching (Pyrography). He has won several awards/prizes such as the ’21 Co-Existence Contest by Tabularasa Transnational Art, Award for Outstanding Contribution at the International Art Exchange Mural project with Sara Hinds (Artist in Residency, University of Florida) and Numartville Art Competition 2018 to his credit among many others. He has participated in several group exhibitions within and outside the country including on Artsy by James May Gallery USA. He also participated in the first ART MEET TECH FAIR in Africa, IMPART FAIR at EKO ATLANTIC Lagos. His work is influenced by his enthrallment with children, and the ability of their cultural background to nurture them.
