Prachi Gothi

London-based Prachi Gothi is an abstract painter exploring the coexistence of conflicting human emotions. Her highly dynamic paintings capture forms in a state of flux with a vibrant yet restrained colour palette. With her bold and autonomous process, Prachi interrogates logical thinking and how it limits how we perceive reality.

Prachi Gothi's Education and Influences

Born and raised in Mumbai, Prachi completed her MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London, 2010. Drawing inspiration from the mundane and her personal life experiences, Prachi taps into the complexities of fleeting human emotions. She seeks to freeze the ephemeral on canvas, laying bare deep feelings.

Artistic Practice

The artist primarily works with acrylic. Her colourful palette juxtaposes bright colours with hints of sombre tones, simultaneously highlighting a sense of disconnection and intimacy. Through painting forms in a state of flux, Prachi attempts to make the viewer enter into and navigate a unique space on the cusp of change.

Exhibitions and Collections

Prachi has previously won the London New Futures Prize at The Other Art Fair. She was also longlisted for the Women United Art Prize, 2021. She has presented her abstract work in several exhibitions, including Dangerous Curves Ahead, Bermondsey Project Space, London, 2012, and The Other Art Fair, London, presented by Saatchi Art in 2021. Her artwork is in collections across India, the UK, the USA, Europe and Australia. She has also participated in auctions, such as Arts for India Auction, Kensington Palace, London, 2010.
