Max Knoedl

Born in 1969 in Griesbach, Germany, Max Knödl is a landscape painter between abstraction and figurativeness. Primarily working with oil on canvas, Max explores landscapes as spaces in continual and effortless motion.

Max Knödl’s Early Career

Max graduated from high school after completing an apprenticeship as a ceramist. He then worked in the stonemasonry business in the field of monument conservation. Max later received a scholarship to work in Venice at The European Centre for Heritage Trades to help restore sculptures. Throughout this time, he was developing his artistic practice. From 2009, he began working exclusively with landscape paintings.

Painting Style

The artist often depicts deserted landscapes using fierce colour-play and expressive brushstrokes which spill over the entire canvas. Forest clearings and mountainous vistas crash into view, demonstrating the imposing forces of nature.

Exhibitions

Max has shown his works in exhibitions and art fairs in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Spain. He lives and works in Passau, Germany.
