Anna Hymas is a London-based visual artist whose scope of work spans painting, fabrics, ceramics, illustration, and beyond. Her signature vibrant palette instils her zesty still-lifes, landscapes, and plant-life explorations with life.
Anna originally trained as a dancer and then studied Theatre Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, graduating in 2000. Since her studies, Anna has exhibited her paintings worldwide from London to New York and Glasgow to Paris, including at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Her bright and colourful style draws from abstract traditions. Layering image upon image, Anna produces a blend of rhythmic playfulness and confident mark-making.
Galleries such as The Stratford Gallery and Arundel Contemporary have exhibited her still-life paintings and landscapes. Anna has also participated in exhibitions with the London Underground, Gordon Ramsay’s Summer Collection and Koppel Soho Open Studios. Other shows include the Affordable Art Fair, Other Art Fair, and East London Design Show. Anna is also a published children’s book author and has created costumes for the ballet A Waulking Song, performed in New York in 2020. Illustration clients include The National Portrait Gallery, The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Guardian, Soho Create, Penguin Books, DK Books, Oxford University Press, Thomas & Rosenthal Ceramics, Terrence Higgins Trust, and Science Photo Library.
