Daniel Berkovitch

Daniel Berkovitch is an artist who wants to be a witness of his time.

At the beginning of the 21st century, marked by a major climate challenge, man's position in relation to his environment is at the heart of his message.

The painter stages states of balance and imbalance. The former refer to nature, while the latter are marked by human intervention, often invasive or predatory.

In a pictorial language that is his own, the artist offers perspectives on natural spaces and human constructions. His painting is narrative, and against the backdrop of the climate alert, he also addresses social issues.

The canvases presented come from different series.

"Between concrete and oxygen" suggests vegetative spaces, juxtaposed with architectural and industrial constructions generated by our civilizational choices.

"Breaks of ice" is a series of canvases showing the cold beauty of Patagonian glaciers that are fracturing and disintegrating due to global warming linked to human activity.

In "Earth Challenge," striking canvases emphasize issues related to our human activity and the problems that arise from it. A form of humor is often present, however.

Technically, the canvases are treated with bold color blocks and created using complex stencils.

This painting explores the fracture between the world of the past and the radical changes to come.
