Ami imaginaire

Imaginary Friend is a Parisian artist who people people people people people with the urban jungle of cats and other colorful animals very gently for our greatest well-being. These graphic animals, domesticated by the artist alone, can be seen in Paris, London, Berlin, and in cities on the west coast of the United States. Can you present your journey to us? I made my first collage in The street in 2012, a “little rainbow cat”, rue Sainte-Marthe. My beginnings were shy, namely discreet and very few small pieces. It was not until 2016 that I started to really invest in public space and have fun. Since then, I sometimes lack a little time to do it as often as I would like! Your pictorial style has evolved? In my eyes, a lot, even if it is not necessarily blatant. My line, which was very fine and shy at the start, asserted itself over the years, it is today more guaranteed, my thicker, more assumed contours. I want my collages to be readable from afar, immediately, by anyone, adult or child, and that we choose to stay at a distance or to approach to watch the pattern closer. I try to tend towards increasingly minimalist contours, in opposition to increasingly detailed patterns. What were your inspirations? The artist who inspired me the most since I was child is another May Keith Haring, for his very minimalist characters, his big black contours, his free colors. Speedy Graphito's work has had a lot of influence on me too, for the same reasons, and for its cheerfulness, too. I also inspire a lot of animal photos. Are you very relevant to your paintings a lot? It depends a lot on my mood. I often paint in the feeling, depending on the mood of the day, but I also happen to have more thoughtful projects for which I do a real preparation work, I do models, etc: this is particularly the case For walls and workshop work. Do you have a message to convey via your creations? What I want to share, above all, because we all need it a lot is lightness, benevolence . Dreams and good humor. It is also the meaning of my artist name. I hope with my collages give a little joy, even a second, and thus become an invisible friend who makes you feel good.
