LABB

Every day, Labb quietly places its balances, its sensitivity, its imagination and dreams of touching the other with a brush. It is the life she chose and who chose it, forever.
Looking for an ideal aesthetic form
Obsessed with balances, the artistic work of Laurence Bost, called Labb, is a permanent search for cleansing mixtures to approach an ideal form of aesthetics. This results in omnipresent contrasts such as raw flattens and fine lines, opaque and transparent, light and dark, fine nuances or strong color contrasts, full and voids, the abstract mixed with figurative scraps.
His favorite themes are the nature and place of man in nature. The recurring presence of ribs, roughness, roots, branches, rods, lianas, tourniques, ligatures and tangles are all means to think about our links, shackles, correlations, obstacles, outbuildings, easements and isolations.
It is common for the same work to offer the spectator three levels of reading. From a distance for a global view of composition "Plan", at a classic distance for an overview of the "Face View" drawing, and very closely to discover tiny invisible details at first "macro view". Thus the work offers several possible interpretations. In this sense, his paintings or drawings work frequently in the four directions.
A well -tied technique
For canvases, Labb sets up her chassis herself and the cotton or linen wrap. Subsequently, she coated them with a thick layer of pasty acrylic which leaves by drying light reliefs.
Labb then works only in fine oil, often helping White-Spirit to dilute it and get material effects. She continues by working her funds with wide brushes in a very brutal way. Often several layers are necessary to obtain the desired transparencies and contrasts. Then she then works the patterns with a fine brush with delicacy and precision, unlike the funds.
For paper inks, Labb uses ecolines and Chinese ink alternating fast work, with a watercolor brush for the funds, and very fine feather for the drawn parts.
