Karoline Kroiss

Born in 1975 in Kollerschlag, Austria, Karoline Kroiß is a professional painter based in Berlin, Germany. The artist stands out for her peaceful paintings created with an almost photorealistic style. Karoline often depicts her female subjects in surrealistic scenes, lost in thought with embroidered patterns airily expanding from their dresses.

Karoline graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2005. She now creates small, elegant paintings on paper and larger- just as delicate- life-size acrylic works on canvas. Her figurative style carries an almost audible stillness, with graceful figures shown from behind or looking away from the viewer. Each piece whispers mystery or otherness, inviting onlookers to enter the picture and discover what holds the figure's attention. Many of her works are autobiographical or feature her daughter, Karli.
