Rogério da Silva is a Portuguese visual artist, born in Lisbon, known for his work in drawing and research on the temporality of images and simulation. In 2018, he completed a master’s degree in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.
His work has been recognised in various exhibitions and awards. In 2024, he was a finalist for The Sovereign Portuguese Art Prize with the piece The Balcony, presented at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon. This work explores the process and the marks of time inscribed in old photographs, reflecting on the passage of time and memory.
In the same year, he participated in the 5th Almada Drawing Biennial – Pedro de Sousa Prize 2024, where he received an honourable mention for his piece Bird Eye.
In 2023, he held the solo exhibition APNEIA at MU.SA – Museum of Arts of Sintra, where he presented a series of drawings that delve into his research on the suspension of time in drawing.
Beyond exhibitions in Portugal, Rogério da Silva has showcased his work internationally, including appearances in Paris at Anne+ Art Contemporain and Galerie Da-End in 2022.
His artistic practice is characterised by a meticulous approach to drawing, in which he investigates the relationship between drawn images and photography, exploring themes such as memory, the temporality of images, and simulation.
