About the artists

Marienne Nix work combines traditional printmaking, impasto, photography and digital tools to create striking prints of exotic leaves. Nix’s series Jungle Shadows, including the brilliant Jungle Shadows Dancing II (2019) is a complex impression of palm leaves and other plants created in metallic jewel-tones. We especially love how delicate each leaf impression is, truly resembling a shadow.

Similarly, there is an irresistible luminosity to Magdalena Morey work. Nature takes on an abstract form in Morey’s vivid reimagining. Through the inspired use of acrylic, watercolour and gold leaf Morey creates scenes that gleam with emotion. Her recent piece Deeply Immersed I (2019) bears a strong resemblance to much of Monet’s famous lake paintings in both colour and composition. We think Morey’s instinctive understanding of colour is accentuated to perfection by the scores of gold leaf.
