LAYERS AND LIGHT
Layers and Light introduces three new artists to Rise Art. The painted works of Kym Haverson, Luke Elwes, and Fernando Velazquez each depict abstracted landscapes, which share a textural surface quality while evoking disparate perspectives of the natural environment.
Curator Rebecca Gordon walks you through these three artists whose work is thematicaclly connected through their use of layers and light.
Be sure to join Rise Art at the gallery space (83 Great Titchfield Street, W1W 6RH) on March 4th at 18:30. RSVP here
Kym Haverson
A British artist whose works have an extraordinary sense of light and depth created through her technique of layering, mixing, and setting different mediums. This unique style earned her a place as semi finalist in collector extraordinare Charles Saatchi's Showdown competition of 2013.
Luke Elwes
First rose to prominence in the early 1990s having returned from his travels abroad with a series of key paintings. Every work is executed under the open sky to ensure his full engagement with the outdoor elements. The resulting works are delicate, natural and full of light and flow.
Fernando Velazquez
His bold, ethereal canvases reject the boundaries between abstract and figurative art. They allude to reality through movement, energy and light but are driven purely by imagination. In 2014 he was a finalist for both The Evolver Prize and The Tribe Prize at Edgar Modern.
