Oli Mumby

Oli Mumby is a UK based contemporary artist specialising in semi-figurative landscape and instinctive representations of the natural world. His work is ‘about’ rather than ‘of’ the natural landscape - each work beginning with an idea stimulated by a drawing or photograph and evolving to describe and recreate a feeling or sense of place. The artist particularly enjoys the direct physicality of pastel; using distinctive colours to build layers, often in collage, using pastels worked and blended into textured paper. Oli’s connection to the captivating scenes of Derbyshire and the Peaks runs deep enough to have attracted him away from his London-based advertising job to his current countryside residence.
