New York-based Heidi Lanino is a figurative abstract artist. Her work is focused on the figure, beauty, and environment, with a strong base in gestural drawing influenced by the transformative power of movement. Motifs surrounding feminine bodily expression are always present in her process and product, composed from figurative, abstract forms. Improvisation, intuition, and impulse are also essential to her approach, which asserts drawing as an intimate activity of looking within to project out.
Her repertoire covers a range of mediums, from painting to print to sculpture. Interweaving her multimedia abstract works is an enduring earthy and material energy of innate sensuality – carnal and confronting. Seizing the intersection between movement and deeply emotive body language, she creates an intriguing mortal narrative through paper, panel, wood, metal, and canvas.
Heidi is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She received a full scholarship to study a BFA in Fine Arts, specialising in drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Heidi's work is in numerous collections, including the permanent collection of The Carlyle Hotel, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and HBO, New York; The Cheval Gloucester, London; Thang Long TLE Group, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; and Hotel Avalon, Beverly Hills, LA. Her commissioned works can be seen in the United States and abroad.
