"Colors full of eyes" could summarize the work of Stéphane Cattaneo. Lunar landscapes, flowery, in love, monochrome portraits are so many subjects tackled by the artist. Multiplying techniques, it depicts kingdoms and timeless spaces. And the love of jazz was Born in Paris in 1970, Stéphane Cattaneo lives and worked in France, in a small village in Morbihan, La Roche Bernard. His interest in creation dates back to childhood, when he devoured Spirou's newspaper: he dreamed of becoming a famous designer. Later, he later discovered painting and developed in adolescence an acute interest in the work of Paul Klee, a period at which he decided to finally become a famous painter. Then it was the considerable shock of jazz in adulthood: he vibrated to the sound of Coltrane, Shepp, Dolphy and so many other musicians of Free Jazz Movement to whom he wanted to look like. However, he did not want to become a famous saxophonist: we cannot do everything, and then with drawing and especially painting, he had found his privileged fields of expression. From then on, he tried through the practice of pictorial improvisation to express emotions according to a rhythm, patterns, an alphabet that has a lot to do with music. A solar brushstroke and haloed by music The artist now produces large-format works on stage everywhere with English, American or French musicians at events in galleries (Dufay-Bonnet, Paris), on the concert scene (Black Dog Café, Minneapolis) Or during performance at festivals (Festijazz, La Paz). Carried by ambient energy and intoxicating rhythm, Stéphane Cattaneo lets himself go in instinctive achievements, rocked by the emotional and the present moment.
