Chisato Tsuchiya, an artist of Japanese origin, currently lives and works in Sainte-Anastasie, in the Gard. Born in Matsudo, Japan, she has an artistic background built from various influences. Since her arrival in France in 1994, she has explored multiple facets of creation, first in the field of digital and advertising art direction, before turning to heritage restoration and contemporary artistic creation.
Her artistic approach is based on introspective reflection on the fragility of our material heritage and on the relationship between time, materials, and the environment. She is particularly interested in the imprint we leave on the world.
In her creations, she combines traditional materials such as lime, plaster, and casein with contemporary elements. She explores the durability of these materials while questioning their permanence. Through this approach, she highlights the duality between the beauty of materials and their fragility.
She also works in heritage restoration, where she applies ancient painting and decoration techniques, in collaboration with conservation and architecture experts. Her recent projects include restorations in historical monuments in France, where she contributes to preserving ancient decorations while respecting artisanal traditions.
