Nigel Bird has exhibited at the London Art Fair and Camden Image Gallery.
While he now makes abstract drawings, Nigel originally trained in sculpture and printmaking.
Nigel creates expressive drawings using shading and texture rather than colour.
Nigel Bird is a British artist who focuses on the world of Abstract Drawings. He makes use of a number of materials to create his monochrome art, including Charcoal, Black Pastel, Indian ink and soot; these images are remarkably expressive to say that they are made without colour, working instead with texture and shading. Nigel draws inspiration from the world around him, exploring themes of time, materiality and our relationship to the natural environment that surrounds us.
Education and Career
Nigel was brought up in a creative environment, with an artist and graphic designer for a father and a number of teachers who encouraged him to make art. He studied a BA in Fine Art with a focus on Sculpture and Printmaking at Loughborough College of Art and Design, and went on to study a Masters in education that formed his career as an art teacher. Since 2006 he has been working as a full-time artist, exhibiting in galleries and art fairs across the country.
