More Works by Nina Lamiel Bruchhaus
Nina Lamiel Bruchhaus
Figurative painter Nina Lamiel Bruchhaus uses her canvas as a playground of possibilities. "Creating through thinking", Nina composes paintings in a spontaneous and personal fashion: bringing together disparate elements of the self as a reflecting and feeling being, and of the artist, as a practised and conditioned individual. Nina holds a Fine Arts degree from the University of Fine Arts, Berlin, Germany (2015 - 21), where she was tutored by the prestigious Valérie Favre. Nina also studied Japanese Painting (nihonga日本画) at Musashino Art School, Tokyo, Japan (2019).

Nina Lamiel Bruchhaus' Inspiration & Style

Nina's work is rooted in parts of transgenerational trauma, heritage, feminism and gender theory. Her paintings subtly reference historical and sociological fields in a way that is at once revealing and natural. Playing with the inherent materiality and texture of paintings - something the artist wishes to expand in opposition to an increasingly digital world, Nina's mixed-media paintings are visibly tactile. Along the same vein, Nina harnesses earthy and terrene colour palettes, botanical motifs, coarse surfaces and heartily ornamented compositions. The resulting works are lively and full, making for enigmatic additions to any home space or collection.

Exhibitions

Nina has taken part in numerous online and in-house exhibitions, including the group show Animation of Dead Material at Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin (2020) and a solo show Goldhafer, Galerie der Dorothea-Konwiarz-Stiftung, Berlin (2019). Other exhibitions include ArtTausch – an online exhibition (2021) curated by Annabelle Verhoye. Nina has received an extensive range of grants and scholarships for her promising work.
