Phil Illingworth has exhibited in the UK, the USA, China, and in Europe including the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been selected for the John Moores Painting Prize, the Marmite Prize IV, and the Jerwood Drawing Prize. In addition to private collections, his works are held in public collections in the UK and China, including the Art UK public art collections database. In 2019 his work joined the collection of the Yale Center for British Art, USA.

Illingworth transforms humble materials into the unexpected. He describes his practice as experimental, yet he is known for his exquisite craftsmanship, attention to detail, and levels of finish which are often hard to imagine are made by a human hand.
He is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and a member and advisory board member of Contemporary British Painting.
