Lisa Almond

Wishing to convey a feeling of peace while exploring colour, energy and movement, Lisa gives the observer an insight into the process through which the pieces were created. Her interest lies in the unique atmosphere and sense of place provided by new locations. Each work is an attempt to convey the essence of the artist’s experience while exploring her relationship with the canvas. She works on several paintings at a time adding thin layers of acrylic paint, the paintings constantly changing until completion.

She grew up in London and spent a large amount of time in France and Suffolk. “In Suffolk we had a lot of freedom to explore. We learnt to respect the sea, smoke cigarettes and climb trees. It was gloriously wild and the marshes have a weird magic about them which has always stayed with me. There’s a freshness about them and I find the stillness extremely relaxing”

Lisa then found inspiration by years of living in the mountains of North America and by the coast of Cornwall. She is now settled in Norfolk, Holkham beach being one of her favourite places to go.

“My Painting is a subconscious process of creating a world that unfolds naturally. If I’m in a calm meditative state and the music is right, it eventually all comes together.”

Lisa’s works are owned internationally.
