More Works by Chris Calvet
Chris Calvet
A French visual artist born in 1979, Chris Calvet developed a passion for artistic creation at a very early age. Nature and the elements (materials, light, colours, shapes, etc.) gave him a taste for discovery and adventure, and this open-mindedness about the world defines his current work.

He discovered arts and crafts at the home of his lifelong friend Lyseth, and together they met Hassan Massoudy and began working together on engraving plates at the age of 19. Their adventurous travels, particularly to China, opened the door to what is now an obvious field for him: calligraphy.

Noticed by Starter Gallery, he had the opportunity in 2015 to spend several weeks in residence in one of the largest museums in Chengdu (a city of 14 million inhabitants). He exhibited in three museums in Chengdu and tested his technique with major international artists such as XuLiaoyuan and Qiu Guangping.

Always open to the world, his approach is simple, with daily work enabling him to learn and master the gesture, something he works hard on with his teacher Alexandra Laneve. This led to the creation of the "Signes" series, which has earned him international recognition.
