Walter Ciandrini

Painter, Walter Ciandrini illustrates imaginary portraits and silhouettes. The warm and earthy colors that he uses invites us to enter an intimate relationship with these enigmatic characters.
Sinueful silhouettes
Walter Ciandrini is an artist of Italian origin. He now lives and works in Landser in Alsace. It has been supported since 2016 by Maecene Arts since 2016, an association dedicated to the promotion of artists.
Walter Ciandrini works on his human figures in ink and pastel. The silhouettes are defined by continuous lines that embrace and intertwine. These lines make a vibrating effect to figures. The artist thus gives them life and movement despite their static position.
Mysterious characters who challenge us
All these figures are built from the same model, the same technique and the same plastic characteristics. From a chromatic point of view, Walter Ciandrini offers its figures warm and earthy colors predominantly ocher-red.
The characters who do not sink out any smiles seem to be absent, lost in their thoughts, or emptied of their expressions, which contrasts with the warm and intimate chromatic palette that the artist uses. We have both the feeling of being close to these figures, because their gaze challenges us and the colors reassure us, but their absence of expressions keeps us at a distance.

The commentary of Marie-Hélène Barreau-Montbazet
"The experience is mystical. Is there something fictitious, bewitching, ritual in these insistent (obsessive?) Rituals), perhaps a sacred chant, a myth, a revelation? These silhouettes come from a universe close to a surprisingly very contemporary parietal art. »Marie-Hélène Barreau-Montbazet Vice-President of Maecene Arts Doctor in Art History.
