Marc Laffolay

Marc Laffolay has devoted himself to painting and sculpture for over 20 years. He lives and works in Pïcardie (France). His works are present in many private collections in France, but also in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, South Africa, Canada, the United States, in the Bas. All of Marc Laffolay's work is influenced by what touches life, the timeless, where the moment only has meaning as the result of everything that precedes it since the dawn of time. What we are experiencing is the fruit of these transmissions, these presences and these stories that have followed one another, shaping matter and the mind. And we who are going through this moment to leave our imprint there, are inscribed in this continuity, in this timelessness, in this perpetual movement. A march and a quest that ends up. "Write from the tip of a stick on the surface of the motionless water which begins to dance and is played for a moment of the sun, the shadow and the light . Then finds its original shape. Get this moment before it is erased. Fix it in the material or on the canvas, immortalize drops of life. "It is first verticality or the search for verticality that characterizes his work as a sculptor. The pieces are rising, straight or winding. The vertical is not just a geometric reference, it is a dynamic, a momentum. It is the dynamics of the human. The surface of its sculptures is marked, sometimes scarified burned. A quest for the essentials. The sensual tactile dimension is also important for him: "There is the eye and there is hand. I like to think that what the eye sees, hand the visit and that it is under Hand posed that life pulses life. "In contrast, there is the more drive image, shimmering from his inks and paintings. The funds of his paintings play the card of transparency. A superposition of scraped, worn, sanded colors. And on these bottoms, as on an old wall, will register, drive, writing, sign and rhythm. "In fact, I then find myself facing a wall , a very old wall. And on this wall, I start to write, to add my own footprint. It’s drive, rhythmic, almost animal. I tag !!! Finally, to celebrate and fix the moment he filled some of the spaces or forms that these signs draw, of often bright and joyful colors: life!
