Bernard Fièvre

The artist Bernard Freve was born in 1954 in Maine-et-Loine. He currently lives and works in Tours. It is within a rather musician family and after classic studies that he embarks on his passion. Already very early, pencils and brushes no longer leave him.
Bernard Fièvre is fascinated by the almost confidential world of symbolists. Of these figures such as Gustave Moreau, Puvis de Chavannes, Odilon Redon, Fernand Khnopff; Artists from secession like Gustav Klimt or Egon Schiele, or from German expressionism like Oskar Kokoschka or Otto Mueller. So many artists who stimulate his gaze and mark his journey.
Bernard Fièvre has always remained marked by the idea that a painting is nothing in itself if it is not worn by the idea, by the meaning which forced him to be born. His concerns of representation are thus worth only by the idea which is translated into action, in the will to be.

His career is just as pictorial as philosophical and is due not only to the fertile observation of the world and its formal structure, as to the imperative analysis of its sources and conditions of emergences and expressions.
The choice of monochromatism results from this obligation to favor meaning rather than form. To say therefore the maximum of things with the minimum of means is the challenge posed and taken up for all these years. This famous yellow color, the B328 of "Old Holland", was born from a fortuitous choice, dictated by a strict appreciation Personal, immediate taste, a kind of connivance between physical and technical means and the possibilities of this dough which is not so easily tamed, but which knows with patience and listening, giving the whole range of almost white to almost brown . And then, over time, the fortuit has become obvious.
