Florent Chretien 8

Florent Chretien 8 is an atypical artist, who has the capacity to deal with sensitive subjects with a certain lightness. In his photographs, he also evokes decadent urbanization, religion, intimacy, or even questions of the genre. He evokes these themes with a certain freshness and his very special poetry.
Sociologist by training, Florent Chretien 8 studied bodily standards and the relationship to the body of our societies with a sharp and critical look. Also trained in photography in the dance industry, he quickly connected sociology and photography using the image as a support for his research. For him, the image allows faster, more incisive reading of a subject.
Great sportsman, his own body has naturally become the subject of his photographic performance, as in the "OTR128" and "5ml" series, presented here on Kazoart, which have no special effects.
His "Christian" family name and his likeness with Christ, then led him to play with religious symbolism. In the series "Corpus dei" (not yet presented here), he embodies the body of God, to make the link between reality and belief.
His approach, between provocation and research in human sciences, has not finished surprising us. As he says himself: "I try to answer the question that should interest everyone: can we become God? I will keep you posted!"
By his work, he highlights two conflicts "body/space" and "body/belief". Corps/space: defines the place of man in the environment, in the city, questions the confrontation of the individual body to universes Completely structured by our societies. Corps/belief: challenges our limits by creating a subjective look at the history of our societies, by questioning the share of reality and unreal and our ability to adhere to certain beliefs.
Regularly invited to exhibit his works or participate in collective projects, his work continues to reinvent himself.
