Anne Du Planty

A passion, but also a vocation, Anne du Planty has been painting since she was very young. She's always had brushes in her hands, and already has a talent for harmonising colours.

Perspective at work

She was introduced to the laws of perspective during her secondary education and completed her apprenticeship first at the Ecole d'Art Déco in Belgium, then at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Roubaix. This training led to a diploma in interior design in the 1970s. But it was through her personal work that the artist affirmed her approach.

A gallery like a travel diary

Originally from the north of France, she discovered the light of the south on her travels, the brightness of the sun and the shadows of the alleyways. Every summer, she criss-crossed the south of France, Spain and, above all, Italy, captivated by the architectural elegance of the towns and villages, wandering the streets and alleys, soaking up daily life in the shady squares and quayside lulls in the warm hours of the day.

Her travel diaries are filled with images taken on the spot in Venice, Florence and Naples. Recent trips to Cuba, India and South-East Asia have filled her travel diaries, giving rise to sensitive works that exude an authentic atmosphere. So many colourful, warm and vivid memories that the artist feeds her work.
