DON MATEO

Don Mateo, & nbsp; born in the beginning of the 80, he grew up with hip hop culture and was passionate very quickly for graffiti. In 2003, he joined the Beaux Arts de Besançon then the optionad of Bellas Arts in Cuenca in Spain… & nbsp ; Art should never leave him again! In 2010, Don Mateo moved to Lyon and made it his new playground. Very quickly, he puts on the walls of the cities of his famous portraits: anonymous people who challenge by the emotion and the energy they breathe. His leitmotif, his ambition, what drives him? : "Act as an urban antidepressant and question painting! "Like Zorro and his sword, it is at the point of his scalpel that he traces his lines to create emotion, surprise and thus reveal the void and sculpt the light through the eyes he seizes. He upsets the codes of the urban to share his gaze on the world and contradict the movement with this unique style that is its own. The portrait is a pretext for dealing with the problems of painting (the figure, the line, the light). It is by oscillating between painting and sculpture that these portraits take on meaning. It reveals the fragility of our existence with subtlety, poetry and a certain bit of malice. "I draw inspiration from life in general and then I do according to my desires ... My pieces are sometimes engaged but it is not activism. It is rather an expression, a look at a subject. I am more turned towards art, to give a message to denounce quickly leads to illustration, in everyday life ... I prefer to touch notions of poetry, things that escape us, tend towards a feeling ... ".
