Baptiste Laurent

(Nantes, France 1980) is a visual artist based in Spain since 2007. Founder of the shared workshop Latolier, located in the Usera neighborhood of Madrid. He has exhibited in institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo, the French Institute of Madrid, the Gazzambo gallery, the Alliance Française, the National Museum of Anthropology, and spaces such as Esquina Nua, Galeria FL, La Caja, Espacio Seara.
He traditionally works with painting, but also with sculpture and, primarily, on projects with a strong literary, social, and anthropological component. In his recent publications "Conversaciones y Puñetazos", "Mauvaises tournures", "Bajo el mismo mar" and "Exit", he has experimented with collaborative work with visual artists and literary authors. He is an anti-academic and eclectic painter who loves the syncretism of pictorial styles and oscillates between the narratives of neo-figuration, graphic painting, urban art, and abstraction.
