Sam Haynes
Sam Haynes is a mid-career artist based in London, working with sculpture, photography and installation. With an Art in Architecture MA from the University of East London and an interdisciplinary arts background, her geometric, abstract photography expresses a dynamic character with a finely balanced aesthetic.
She began her professional practice as a public artist in the 90's, designing permanent and temporary site specific installations across the UK. Drawing upon this broad experience, she launched her new photo print series of sculptural assemblages at the beginning of 2021, with exhibitions in London, Rome and Barcelona. In 2023 she had her first solo show at the Bloom Gallery, London, exhibiting site responsive sculptures alongside her photo assemblages. Her work has been featured in many international magazines and publications including Florence Contemporary Gallery’s ‘55 Artists to Discover’ 2024 edition.
Interested in physicality and materiality of forms, incorporating found objects and materials, Haynes effectively moves between 2 and 3D formats, using photography within the process of design as well as the final presentation of work.
Haynes has worked in arts facilitation for many years which continues to influence her artistic practice, with a focus on accessibility, engaging marginalised communities, working in partnership with charities and public art commissioners.
