Rodrigo Piedrahita

Rodrigo Piedrahita is an abstract painter based in Medellín, Colombia. He describes his art as a quest for peace and pleasure within the painting world, reflecting on life through landscapes and abstraction. His work, characterized by figurative expressionism in oil on canvas, employs a palette knife and brush techniques to create nuanced color veils. He uses toys as symbols to evoke differing realities based on individual experiences, intertwining childhood joy with adult reflections on existence and the surrounding objects.

Growing up in Colombia, Rodrigo exhibited artistic talent from a young age, with early support from his family. He began taking art classes, and by age 12, his work was already being showcased in exhibitions. He graduated from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín in 1985 and has since dedicated 30 years to his artistic career. His exhibitions include notable events such as the Beijing International Art Biennale and the 2nd Dafen International Oil Painting Biennale in Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Today, Rodrigo's art is displayed in various countries worldwide.
