Aykaz Arzumanyan

Painter and plastic artist, Aykaz Arzumanyan likes to explore techniques and materials. Wicked out day after day to deliver canvases of infinite meticulousness, he created his own style which he invests with force and mystery.

Aykaz Arzumanyan was born in Armenia in Yerevan in 1977. It was at the foot of Mount Ararat, where Noah landed his ark, that he spent his whole childhood. As a teenager, he followed his parents abroad. Throughout his career, he has accompanied artists and organized international exhibitions. His eye has refined and his sensitivity increased. Their contact inspired in him the desire to create.

In 2004, after several trips to France, he decided to settle there. He abandoned his job as a lawyer and launched body and soul into artistic creation.

Author of his own style, Aykaz Arzumanyan continues his research even though he has invented a style that allows him to express his feelings. He has no right to make mistakes: each touch of paint is applied with his knife on the canvas with the precision of a watchmaker. At the slightest false step, the whole canvas must be redone. The exceptional meticulousness with which he works does not prevent him from filling his work with feelings and mystery. For this, time is his ally: as soon as he feels his arm tremble, he stops, puts down his knife, and returns to the work only when he is completely focused.

Depending on the position of the sun's rays, the relief of each touch of color casts its shadow on the neighboring touch, playing out in its shades. At every moment of the day, his works reveal different aspects.
