Laurent Marty

Born in 1973, Laurent Marty is a graduate of the École des Beaux- Arts in Marseille. His painting, with its organic forms and vibrant colours, plays with the ambiguity of planes to question the relationship between the figure and the background. Her work has been selected for the Salon de Montrouge, Novembre à Vitry, Jeune Création, and has won awards from the Fondation Regards de Provence. His work has also been shown at the French Cultural Centre in Seoul (South Korea). Laurent Marty lives and works in Marseille. "Laurent Marty's painting is at the crossroads of abstract and figurative approaches. Both a stumbling block and a stone of meditation, his rigorous chromatic research leads the eye to the primary opposition between man and matter. The apparent interplay of form and content, constructed in an unvarnished, uncompromising style, leads the viewer to a profound questioning of what the image provokes in us. Each painting captures, in its own way, an ‘unbearable lightness of being’. It's a painting that absorbs us in our enigmas, taking us for a walk in our silences. It is a beginning rather than an end.
