Lisa Takahashi

Born: 1981 in London, United Kingdom
Lives and Works: Taunton, United Kingdom

Take a closer look, and you'll reveal the beauty of Lisa Takahashi's prints. She works mainly in linocut, and you only get that fantastic surface texture by zooming in (or hanging one on your wall). Each print is full of movement. Even her still lifes are bustling, vibrant, alive.

Takahashi is inspired by the vibrancy of everyday life. When she's drawing, she works to simplify, in order to reveal patterns and geometric balance that then help to communicate the essence of a scene.

Cycling is a big subject for Takahashi. Her flowing style suits the sport. She uses a narrow colour palette, with one bright tone flashing out against subdued shapes.

Her editions often sell out, and her linocuts have been accepted into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Takahashi lives and works in North London.
