Angelika Millmaker

Born: 1967 in Bergen, Norway
Lives and Works: Vollen, Norway

Born in Bergen, Norway Angelika Millmaker is a contemporary artist whose work is characterised by an abstract representation of organic forms. She uses a wide variety of mediums to create translucent and luminous effects in her paintings. The essence of her work is rooted in the colours and landscapes from Scandinavia and the traditional design of Nordic art. The Norwegian landscape comes alive during the long summer days and light nights of the midnight sun and then becomes majestically silent as the autumn colours fade into the white snowfalls of winter. The quality of light gives colours a brilliance that is rarely found in other regions. The difference between the cold almost blueish winter landscape and the bright colours of summer are very inspiring to Angelika, and many of her paintings are characterised by bold contrasts between colours, textures, shapes and light.
