California Dreaming

Our California dreaming collection brings together a range of artworks inspired by California. There’s a reason Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco, and The Mamas & the Papas were so hooked on California Dreamin’; its natural beauty and vibrant culture are hard to resist. From glossy prints to delicate paintings, and abstract illustrations to figurative drawings, take a walk through The Golden State, it’s cliff-lined beaches, redwood forests and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. For calming artwork, Turner-prize nominee Gary Hume’s signature style is instantly recognisable and highly collectable. The artist is known for his sensitive and reserved technique and nuance of colour. Screenprints such as American Tan XXIV exemplify his restrained but highly appealing colour palette and minimalist linework. Gary’s nude Bikini Print is a testament to the undeniably calm aura his works emanate. Printmaker, illustrator and image-maker Anna Marrow creates groovy, illustrative scenes which channel a certain Pop Art chic. Her works offer an esoteric insight into urban and suburban life. With a dab of tropical zest and a splash of 70s retro aesthetic, her resulting artworks are as joyful as their titles suggest: Ice Cream Parlour and Meanwhile at the Lido. British painter Georgia Peskett is known for her edgy urban landscapes and city-dweller portraits. Georgia breathes new life into previously mundane moments, reimagining the all-too-familiar with a flick of her paintbrush. Wandering figurative displays such as cityscape oil painting, Buon Gusto, San Francisco, illustrate Georgia's fascination with big city life. For works that exude confidence and vitality, Bruce McClean’s artwork continues to garner well-deserved attention from top collectors and galleries worldwide. His highly abstract and decorative tendencies challenge artistic custom, making for idiosyncratic, flamboyant and multi-perspective works. You can buy botanical prints by Bruce, such as his Pink Beach Towel, an ideal centrepiece for its luminous colours and striking, organic shapes.
