More Works by Cindy Nikolic
Cindy Nikolic
Born in 1983 in Paris, lives works in Savigny sur Orge in Essonne.
Her favorite subjects are facial expressions - which she has studied a lot - including the anatomy of the muscles and the different movements they allow to make. An expression is only a moment, it is also a vector of emotions, and that is what has always fascinated him. She found in painting, a way not to freeze, but to amplify an emotion to communicate it
In 2020 its creation process was shaken by the widespread port of the mask which makes more than half of the face of its dear strangers disappear. Confined and private of his models, the artist immerses himself in his imagination by starting a new series entitled "The Museum of Dreams".
His paintings tell stories, sometimes by a suspension look that invites you to guess the subject's thoughts, sometimes by dreamlike scenes to contemplate.
She works by series of paintings or drawings. In general, everything starts from a meeting. It can also be very inspired by music and live performance. When she explores a subject, she likes to look at it from a rational point of view and feel it to experience its pure emotion. She very often starts from the definitions of the dictionary to refer to a sure source, and superimposes her feelings, this is what begins the reflection: it feeds on the discrepancies that can result from it. She takes drawn, written or photographic notes that serve her material to go to painting.
