Alexander Grawoig
Alexander Grawoig (b.1988, USA) is a visual and sound artist.

Entirely self-educated, Alexander chose to forgo traditional academic paths to support his family’s graphic design business. After leaving high school, Alexander delved deeply into music and art, developing a profound appreciation for various musical genres including jazz, folk, blues, psychedelic rock, experimental, and electronic music. His artistic influences are equally eclectic, encompassing movements such as Dada, Fluxus, and Abstract Expressionism.

Since 2008, Alexander has gained recognition in the experimental music world. Performing under aliases like D/P/I and Deep Magic, and as a member of Sun Araw, he has captivated audiences globally at venues such as MoMA PS1 and Mutek. His collaborations with musical luminaries such as Laraaji and Orphy Robinson highlight his versatile talent and innovative spirit.

In 2022, Alexander shifted his focus to painting, marking a new chapter in his creative journey. His work has quickly garnered attention; he was featured in Mexico City’s Art Week, held a solo exhibition titled “Water,” and participated in several group shows across the city.

Currently residing in Querétaro, Mexico, Alexander continues to evolve as a visual and sound artist. His unique background and diverse influences inform a body of work that transforms the mundane into the extraordinary, reflecting a deep engagement with both material and metaphysical themes.
