Alexander Grawoig (b.1988, USA), is a visual artist and music composer.
Entirely self-educated, Alexander chose to forgo traditional academic paths to support his family’s graphic design business. After leaving high school, Alexander delved deeply into music and art, developing a profound appreciation for various musical genres including jazz, classical, folk, blues, country, psychedelic rock, experimental, electronic, and traditional music. His artistic influences are equally eclectic, encompassing movements such as Fluxus, Christian Iconology, Impressionism, Suprematism and Abstract Expressionism.
Since 2008, Alexander has gained recognition in the experimental music world performing under aliases like D/P/I and Deep Magic. As a member of Dreamcolour and Sun Araw, he has captivated audiences globally at venues such as MoMA PS1, Cafe Oto, and Mutek. His collaborations with musical luminaries such as Laraaji and Orphy Robinson highlight his versatile talent and innovative spirit.
In 2022, Alexander shifted his focus to painting and visual art, marking a new chapter in his creative journey. His work has quickly garnered attention; he was featured in Mexico City’s Art Week, held a solo exhibition titled “Water,” and participates in art fairs and group shows across the city and internationally.
Currently residing in Querétaro, Mexico, Alexander continues to evolve as a visual artist and composer.
