Elizabeth Barnes

Elizabeth Barnes is an artist and educator and has been living and working in Vancouver BC for 15 years. She received her BFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and her MFA from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She has exhibited in both public and commercial galleries in the United States and Canada. Her work is based on a practice of walking and the complex history of abstract painting. Through the physical perception of space, she poses the question of how to represent both urban and natural environments that reveal themselves in layers, hidden stories, and longings for the future.
