Visual artist, Catherine Gajac's training is based on a long practice supported by studies in art history (PhD) and visual arts (aggregation). Over the years, her artistic practice has been enriched with new techniques and references: photography, watercolor, engraving, ceramics. Nourished by the experience of travel and life "elsewhere", her oil paintings largely develop the theme of landscape. Her work is based on the memory of the place and the moment. Painting them makes them come alive with greater intensity and sensitivity. The style claims an inheritance from contemporary American figurative painting. The subject of the watercolors is based on a practice that freely and fluidly implements pigments, water, and ink, revealing organic forms inspired by the sea. The engraving reveals a strong and emphatic graphic design illustrating themes close to nature. The ceramics implement both the exercise of turning and the use of slips, which results in a great diversity of shapes with colors close to the pictorial palette. Catherine Gajac exhibited extensively in the 1980s/90s in the southwest of France. Her professional activity has imposed a slowdown in her artistic production, but since 2011, she has resumed practicing regularly and can present new works for appreciation and critique. She thus regularly participates in exhibitions.
