Harris explores nuclear explosions as cultural, historical and iconic symbols in her practice. Referencing the scale, beauty and abhorrent nature of the atom bomb she delves into the periphery of the subject, the myths, characters and surrounding evidence.
She works across a wide range of media from vast oil paintings, tapestries & projections to delicate paintings on glass and ceramics you could hold in your hand. She is fascinated by the beauty and awe of the landscape, the dust, the glow, the force of the explosion. In this master plan to kill ourselves off, we’ve shown ourselves the END.
Harris has exhibited widely both in the UK and abroad in galleries such as Saatchi Gallery (London) Vane Gallery (Gateshead) Semjon Contemporary (Berlin) Royal Academy of Arts (London) Auxiliary Warehouse (Middlesbrough) StudioKIND. (Devon) and at the London Art Fair. She is a member of the Contemporary British Painting group and was shortlisted for the prize in 2019. She has exhibited alongside such artists as Fiona Banner aka The Vanity Press, Gillian Wearing, Bill Viola, David Shrigley, Martin Creed, Pipilotti Rist, Luke Fowler and Gina Birch.
Her work is collected in the UK and abroad in collections such as The Atomic Museum in Nevada (USA) and The Peace Museum in Bradford (UK).
Harris lives and works in London with a studio at the renowned Chisenhale Art Place.
