Lluís-Carles Pericó was born in Barcelona on 6 February 1958. Between 1980 and 1983, he studied fine arts at the EINA University in Barcelona. During this period, he explored Italy, Greece, France, Morocco, and Minorca—journeys that would greatly enrich his artistic work. In 1983, Pericó was awarded a grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya as a young artist. His talent was quickly recognised, and he both participated in and stood out in several art competitions, including the prestigious Joan Miró International Drawing Prize.
Between 1987 and 1992, Pericó settled in a village on the southern coast of Catalonia, while continuing to travel throughout Spain, England, and Wales. At the end of 1992, he moved to London, where he lived until 1996, before returning to Barcelona. Since the end of 2009, he has lived near Paris and works from his studio in Versailles.
The work of Lluís-Carles Pericó, inspired by his Mediterranean roots, initially developed around abstract archaeological and architectural reminiscences. Gradually, his work shifted towards imaginary landscapes, created without models, representing fragments of his personal memory. For over twenty years, he has preferred the technique of oil on wood.
Lluís-Carles Pericó’s works are included in several public collections, notably at the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Montcada i Reixach Town Hall, the EINA Foundation, and the Spanish College at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris. His works are also part of numerous private collections in Europe and America, with acquisitions in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, London, Nuremberg, San Francisco, and Mexico City, among others.
