Harriet Porter’s still life paintings of reflective objects radiate a quiet serenity.
She focuses her attention on catching the glints of light reflected on solitary vessels set in empty space. Inspired by artists such as Willhelm Hammershoi and William Nicholson, she paints these minimal monochromatic studies from direct observation in her quiet light-filled studio. The peaceful solitude she finds there is somehow transferred onto the canvas.
She is based in South London and is represented by galleries in Bath, Dulwich Village, Brighton and Stratford-on-Avon.
Her work has been sold widely in the UK, as well as in Europe and USA
