More Works by Nigel Bird
Nigel Bird
Nigel Bird is a British artist who focuses on the world of Abstract Drawings. He makes use of a number of materials to create his monochrome art, including Charcoal, Black Pastel, Indian ink and soot; these images are remarkably expressive to say that they are made without colour, working instead with texture and shading. Nigel draws inspiration from the world around him, exploring themes of time, materiality and our relationship to the natural environment that surrounds us.

Education and Career

Nigel was brought up in a creative environment, with an artist and graphic designer for a father and a number of teachers who encouraged him to make art. He studied a BA in Fine Art with a focus on Sculpture and Printmaking at Loughborough College of Art and Design, and went on to study a Masters in education that formed his career as an art teacher. Since 2006 he has been working as a full-time artist, exhibiting in galleries and art fairs across the country.

Nigel Bird’s Notable Exhibitions and Sales

Nigel’s work has featured in a wide range of galleries and fairs, including the London Art Fair and an exhibition of drawings at the Camden Image Gallery and the Patriot Hall Gallery in Edinburgh. He has also had international commissions to clients in the USA, Hong Kong and more.
Our insider says:

There is something innately expansive about Nigel Bird's large-scale works; they have an irresistible gravitational pull. His pieces mirror the beauty of the ever-evolving, imperfectly perfect state of the natural world - heightened by the organic debris from his mixed-media tools, left behind as fragments of their conception.
